Marshfield authorizes RFP for construction manager for Wildwood Plaza police department renovation

The Board of Public Works authorized staff to solicit construction manager proposals for the Wildwood Plaza renovation project, a proposed new police department sited in a building the city received by donation.
Staff explained the city received the Wildwood Plaza (also called the Buffalo Building) at 2504 South Central Avenue and placed renovation work in the 2025–2026 capital improvement program. The architect, BKV Group, completed schematic design and began design development before staff paused further design to bring a construction manager on board at the design development phase. Staff said engaging a construction manager early helps with value engineering, updated cost estimates and development of a guaranteed maximum price once bids are ready.
An RFP for construction manager services was prepared for the board’s review; staff recommended approving the RFP and authorizing solicitation of proposals. The motion to approve the RFP carried on a voice vote. Staff will proceed with the procurement process and return with proposals and recommended finalists as required by city procurement rules.
