Council asks building inspector, community development for ADU update

Peabody — With state incentives and renewed attention on accessory dwelling units (ADUs), the City Council voted to request a briefing from the building inspector and community development staff to update the council on ADU zoning, language and implementation questions.
Councilor Gamache said residents have asked for information and that the council’s Industrial and Community Development (ICD) committee previously generated questions that remain outstanding. Councilors asked that the city solicitor and department heads be copied on the request and that the update include responses to committee questions.
The motion to request a briefing and include community development and the city solicitor passed without objection; councilors said they expect ICD to address the zoning language and state guidance in the new year.
