Information technology staff recommended procurement of Object First backup hardware and three years of support from SHI for $55,725.47 via a state contract; the presenter stressed growing cyber threats and the need to protect county digital assets.
The water system requested renewal and expansion of flow monitoring services with ADS Environmental Services not to exceed $315,732 for 12/01/2025–11/30/2026 to maintain 32 flow meters and four rain gauges used for spill detection and planning. Water system staff said the flow monitoring program also assisted development of the county’s master plan through 2060.
Staff presented a development agreement with Blue River Development LLC that would require a $1,104,776.52 contribution to the Cadillac reroute project (Gateway North Phase 1 in Hiram) to move flow from an overcapacity lift station and permit Phase 1 development. Separately, the board reviewed a proposed contract with Brennan Jones Engineering Associates LLC for $70,545 to support design and bidding for a jail gravity sewer automatic screen to move maintenance away from behind the jail and tie into SCADA.
Right‑of‑way acquisitions for the Cedar Crest Road widening project were discussed, asking the board to approve three parcels (Parcel 54 $60,000; Parcel 60 $99,000; Parcel 61 $115,000) using SPLOST funds with FHWA reimbursement up to $5,000,000. Staff summarized earlier engineering, GDOT oversight, and the project schedule with a potential May 2027 let date if funding comes together.
