Paulding County staff presented a proposed joint resolution with Bartow County to study the feasibility of adding an interchange on I‑75 north of 3rd Army Road.
Staff described projected county population growth and transportation needs as primary drivers. The resolution would commit Paulding and Bartow to pool personnel and resources to develop conceptual designs and an interchange justification report that both counties believe would relieve pressure on nearby arterials, including Highway 92 and Cedar Crest Road. Staff said the corridor concept would begin near Dabsbridge Road in Paulding, traverse Bartow County and tie to I‑75; alignments discussed could place an interchange about 1.4 miles from the Paulding County line on the Bartow side.
Project leaders cautioned that federal approvals, extensive studies and environmental and right‑of‑way processes could extend the timeline to a decade or longer. If the board approves the joint resolution, Paulding County said it would lead conceptual engineering and expected to advertise requests for proposals for that work in 2026.
What’s next: If approved, staff will coordinate with Bartow County on a conceptual engineering feasibility study and subsequent steps; no final funding or construction decisions were presented during the meeting.
