Council honors outgoing members, introduces new event coordinator and previews tree lighting

Battle Ground — Council members Tricia Davis and Cherish Desrosiers were honored Tuesday for their years of service as Mayor Troy McCoy and colleagues presented plaques and remarks recognizing their leadership.
Mayor McCoy said both had "left many positive and lasting impacts on the city of Battle Ground," and invited brief remarks. Both outgoing members thanked staff, family and community for the opportunity to serve; colleagues offered tributes and described their service to the city.
Robert Ferrier of the city manager's office introduced Heather Svensson as the new recreation and event center coordinator. "I'm excited to be working at the Battleground event center," Svensson said, and staff welcomed her experience in hospitality and events.
Staff also reported on holiday preparations: banners and the season greeting sign are up downtown and local businesses, led by Luke Rogers of Clean Choice Professional Services, helped sponsor a light display at the event center. The council noted the tree lighting will be Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the event center.
Council members thanked the outgoing members and encouraged them to stay involved in community activities.
