Board suspends employee identified as 'Mr. West' with pay pending reassignment and review

After meeting in executive session for student discipline and personnel matters, the Bullhead City School Board took a public action Nov. 20 to suspend an employee referred to in the meeting as "Mr. West."

A board member moved that "we will keep on, Mr. West. He will be suspended until the end of the semester with pay. He will return to a new assignment after a conference with Dr. Stewart and Julie Floyd, at which time they will establish together other expectations." The motion was seconded and carried with all board members voting in favor.

The matter was handled in executive session pursuant to cited Arizona Revised Statutes governing confidential student records and personnel deliberations; the board reported its action in public session. The board did not discuss details of the underlying personnel matter in open session.

The board recorded its vote in public session and directed the superintendent and human resources staff to hold the required conference and implement the reassignment plan once expectations are established.
