Battle Ground Council unanimously adopts 2026 operating and capital budget

Battle Ground — The Battle Ground City Council on Dec. 1 adopted Ordinance 2025-18, approving the city's 2026 operating and capital improvement budget. The council closed a public hearing with no public testimony and approved the ordinance by roll call.
Council moved to adopt the ordinance as presented; the motion was seconded and council proceeded to a roll-call vote. Council members Jeanne Kuipers, Council member Ferrer, Council member DeRozier, Council member Davis, Eric Overholzer, Deputy Mayor Bowman and Mayor Troy McCoy all voted yes. The mayor announced the motion carried unanimously.
City finance staff reminded the council that state law requires the budget to be adopted by Dec. 31. Council members commended staff work on the budget and thanked finance staff for answers to detailed questions during the review process.
No changes to the ordinance were made at the meeting; staff said any remaining technical matters will be handled in follow-up and that the adopted budget will guide the city's 2026 capital improvement planning and operating priorities.
The council adjourned at about 8:10 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2026.
