Elizabethtown Area School District elects Kelly Carter president, Jim Gillis vice president during reorganization

The Elizabethtown Area School District board held its annual reorganization meeting in December, swearing in newly elected and reelected directors and electing its officers for the coming year. After the roll call, Judge Randall Miller administered the oath of office to Liza Bazarian, Danielle Lindemuth, Steven Lindemuth and Melody Yoder.

Following the oath, board members nominated candidates for temporary president and then for president and vice president. Tina Wilson was nominated and confirmed as temporary president to preside over the reorganization. During the formal officer votes, Kelly Carter received the majority in the roll‑call for board president; the chair announced the result as "the vote is unanimous in favor of Missus Carter," and Carter assumed the presidency. Jim Gillis was later elected vice president after roll‑call voting.

The board used its standard procedure for officer elections under board policy No. 5, which requires a majority of votes cast by members present. The meeting record shows nine members present for the reorganization vote; the chair declared both officer elections carried unanimously.

The reorganization portion concluded with a motion to adjourn; the meeting then took a five‑minute break before the workshop portion of the evening.

What happens next: The newly seated board moved immediately into the scheduled workshop to begin committee and budget planning. Any formal actions taken during the workshop will be recorded in the meeting minutes and accompanying roll calls.
