A Friends of the Park representative told the Henry County Park Board that RFP packets for lighting around the pond were sent to five contractors — three local — and that proposals are due at noon on Dec. 30. The representative said the plan is to install eight lights around the pond next spring once a contractor is chosen.
"We got at least 5 good ones, I believe, that went out," the Friends representative said, and said the proposals would come back Dec. 30 so the board could review them at its next meeting. He reported the Friends account balance at approximately $54,000 and said he expected additional fundraising support.
Board members discussed timing and that work would occur in spring when weather allows. The representative recommended the board review the returned proposals at the January meeting and hoped to secure a contractor and funding in the new year. No formal board vote on awarding a contract occurred at the Dec. 16 meeting.
The presentation also included general planning ideas for future events and fundraising strategies intended to bring more visitors to the park.
