Henry County commissioners approve Vivitrol funding, interlocal agreements and several contracts

At their Dec. 17 meeting the Henry County commissioners approved a $50,000 opioid-settlement request for a local Vivitrol program, accepted multiple interlocal contracts and authorized a series of routine repairs and appointments; votes were unanimous where recorded.
Henry County commissioners on Dec. 17 approved multiple motions that fund services, continue interlocal arrangements and authorize facility repairs.
The board approved a request for $50,000 from the county opioid-settlement fund to support the Vivitrol program, which staff said provided 107 injections in 2025 and served 12 participants. The funding is intended to cover initial monthly injections while clients are enrolled in insurance. Commissioner motions and a voice vote carried the appropriation.
Commissioners also approved a two-year EMS interlocal cooperation agreement with the City of Newcastle to continue EMS service arrangements, and a 2026 contract with the Spiceland Police Department that staff said was similar to prior years’ agreements with updated dollar figures. The board approved a contract to retrofit the county’s generator control panels and a short-term rental to maintain power coverage during the work; staff reported repeated false alarms from aging control electronics.
Other approved items included a $4,038 repair at the youth services (YOC) building for a rupturing pipe, approval of a $205,000 draw request from an owner-occupied housing grant covering three properties to be submitted to the state, a bond for Debbie Walker, and several board reappointments (Bud Shore to Henry Community Health, Roxanne Thornburg to the library board; RDC reappointments for John Madison, Paul Janssen and Melissa True). The board also authorized a single sign-out credit card for the sheriff’s office with an instruction to revisit other card policies after an ordinance is drafted.
All recorded motions were approved by voice vote; where specific tallies were announced, votes were unanimous.
