The Champaign County land-use committee voted unanimously to recommend rezoning several parcels at 2408 North Market Street to B-4 General Business for a CU Jiu Jitsu LLC location and approved a recreation and entertainment license for a demo derby at the Champaign County Fairgrounds.
The rezoning request (zoning case 179AM25) was submitted by Michael Staller, doing business as CU Jiu Jitsu LLC; staff said the city of Champaign was given an opportunity to consider annexation and the Zoning Board of Appeals recommended the change unanimously. The committee moved the case to the county board on the consent agenda after a brief discussion and formal voice approval.
Separately, the committee approved a recreation and entertainment license for Taylor Feldkamp to stage a demo derby at the Champaign County Fairgrounds (scheduled dates listed in the agenda). Ms. Locke, speaking informally, said she was a longtime fan of the demo derby.
The planning staff thanked the petitioners for attending. Both items were designated for the county board consent agenda and the committee chair said he did not expect substantial opposition at the county board level.
