Tim, MPO staff, briefed the board on federal requirements for safety performance measures and the MPOs options to either set its own targets or formally concur with the state targets. He said the five required performance measures are number of fatalities, fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles, number of serious injuries, serious-injury rate per 100 million vehicle miles and non-motorized fatalities and serious injuries.
Tim recommended the MPO concur with INDOTs targets and asked for a motion to authorize Ryan, the MPO executive director, to sign the letter of concurrence. ‘‘So if we could get a motion to support the state's performance measures and targets and authorize Ryan, our executive director, to sign the letter expressing that support,’’ Tim said. Steve Snyder moved the motion and Doug seconded. The board approved the motion by roll call vote.
The action formalizes the MPOs support of the states safety targets and allows staff to transmit the concurrence letter to INDOT.
