The Middleton Airport Commission voted to approve a special-event permit for the EAA Chapter 93 pancake breakfast, moving the application on to the common council for final action.
Chair Lerman opened discussion of the pancake breakfast application and noted the licensing ordinance review already completed earlier in the process. Jeff Gallagher, representing the EAA chapter, confirmed the event date was moved one week to avoid Fourth of July conflicts: "We moved everything out a week, due to the fact that it was going to coincide with fourth of July and a lot of our chapter volunteers couldn't come." Alder Charles Myers seconded the motion to approve the event "as requested." The commission approved the permit on a voice vote; the meeting record shows ayes and no verbal opposition, but no numerical roll-call tally was recorded.
Commissioners praised the chapter and local hosts for organizing the community event and noted Mori Inc. and local volunteers clear the main hangar to accommodate the breakfast. Chair Lerman said the licensing step has been completed and the permit will be forwarded to the common council for final approval.
The commission did not attach any special conditions during its approval; any additional requirements will be determined by the common council or through the city's licensing process.
