Assistant City Manager and Community Development Director Debbie Bent told the council the extension covers roughly 13 parcels and is intended to give staff time to incorporate results from a recently completed study and new guidance from Fish and Wildlife before proposing permanent rules. Bent said staff hope to bring proposed regulations back to the council in 2026.
No members of the public signed up to speak during the public hearing, and the council moved directly to adoption. On the roll call, all council members voted yes and the ordinance was adopted unanimously.
The extension carries no immediate land‑use approvals; it preserves interim protections while staff and outside agencies complete technical work and policy recommendations.
