Columbia Borough Council on Dec. 9 authorized two contractor payments tied to local park and remediation projects and received a staff update on a PennDOT road project.
Council approved a motion to authorize payment of $133,842 to CXT for the Maple Park Phase 1 restrooms. Staff said the project should be substantially complete within one to two weeks and that any remaining items likely would not be finished if not completed within that period.
Council also authorized application for payment number 7 to Iron Eagle Excavating in the amount of $233,791.47 for McGinnis Innovation Park Phase 1 soil remediation. Staff reported cleanup and grading work continues and that the contractor expects to wrap up in roughly two weeks.
Separately, the borough engineer reported PennDOT had approved borough submissions for the "100 to 200" project, the job is advertised on ECMS for contractor bidding and PennDOT'026set a bid-opening date of Jan. 8, 2026. The engineer estimated a conservative construction start in May 2026.
