Twinsburg City Council elected Greg Bellen as its council president at the Dec. 2 meeting and selected Ms. Lavey as vice president, actions required by the city charter at the first December meeting.
The nominations opened when the presiding official called for nominations "for council president." Ms. Lavey nominated Greg Bellen; the nomination was seconded and carried on a roll call vote. After the vote the new president thanked colleagues: "Thanks to all my colleagues for the vote of confidence," he said.
Council also elected Ms. Lavey vice president after a separate nomination and roll call. The meeting included formal approval of the Nov. 26 minutes by roll call and public announcement of committee assignments for 2026: members were assigned to boards including the Architectural Review Board, finance, public works, public safety, Parks and Recreation, and school board relations.
The new president presented a plaque to outgoing Council President David Post "thank[ing] David Post for his service as president of Twinsburg City Council in 2025." Post responded briefly, thanking colleagues for the opportunity and the experience.
Council wrapped up the governance items with brief remarks of appreciation and a reminder of the next meeting schedule. The next study session is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. the following Tuesday, with the regular council meeting at 7:30 p.m.
