Council creates tree-planting committee and approves Pegasus plaque for downtown corner

The Seymour City Council on Dec. 18 approved two community-focused items: formation of a tree-planting committee and placement of a historic-style Pegasus plaque.
Dr. Brazier described a proposed committee to review tree-donation requests, recommend species and planting sites, coordinate with the streets/parks department and maintain donation records. The council voted to authorize Dr. Brazier to assemble a five-member committee and return appointees for approval; the committee will work with city staff to avoid planting near utilities and to ensure maintenance compatibility.
On a separate item, the council approved a request from Graham Quisenberry to place a small historical plaque and a Pegasus figure at the corner of West McLean and South Washington, calling the display a whimsical community feature. The motion passed by voice vote.
