Seymour approves Blacksmith Ventures bid to repair airport entry and apron

The Seymour City Council voted Dec. 18 to accept a Blacksmith Ventures bid for airport access improvements and apron extension using federal/state ramp grant funds. City Administrator Dr. Brazier told the council the total project cost would be about $144,000 with the city’s local match or share near $14,400 to be drawn from airport reserves.
Dr. Brazier said TxDOT and ramp program staff recommended soliciting contractors and that Blacksmith’s bid was the lowest responsible bid received. Council voted to accept the proposal and authorized staff to move forward with grant submittal and contract execution, subject to ramp director approval.
Council members noted the practical benefits of improving the airport approach and apron for hanger access and said that spending the available ramp funds was a timely opportunity they did not want to forfeit.
