Seymour council directs plan to finish golf-course sprinkler repairs and begin cart-path work

The Seymour City Council instructed staff Dec. 18 to prioritize repairs to the South Fork recreational complex’s sprinkler system and to develop an initial cart-path plan funded from course fees and reserves.
Todd, the recreation-complex supervisor, reported about 60–70% of the sprinkler system is functioning; he described ongoing underground-wire tracing and repairs and said one fairway and several sprinklers remain offline. Council members pressed for a concrete winter work plan and cost estimates and asked staff to seek outside help from Hunter (the system’s control-box manufacturer) if in-house efforts stall.
Council adopted a motion directing City Administrator Dr. Brazier and Councilman Hendricks to prepare a completion plan for sprinkler repairs and to outline a cart-path implementation schedule, with the goal of having the course functional for the 2026 season. Council discussed rough cart-path measurements (9,005 feet measured along main routes) and example costing discussed on the floor (council exchanges referenced a $9,000 figure as an example for a segment of pathwork); staff will provide formal cost estimates and a recommended phasing plan.
The council said completing the sprinkler system will reduce overtime and manual work and improve course operations during peak season.
