Truman High School principal John Craig told the board of expanded dual‑enrollment (from 4 to over 30 options), improvements in AP and PVOS scores, a 73.6% drop in failure rates since 2021, the Tiger Time initiative metrics and upcoming events including a Dec. 6 hall‑of‑fame ribbon cutting.
Truman High School principal John Craig updated the Bristol Township School District board on academic and extracurricular progress during the November meeting.
Craig said the school has expanded dual‑enrollment opportunities from four options in 2021 to more than 30 today, allowing students to earn college credits before graduation. He cited improved standardized‑test growth (PVOS) in literature, algebra 1 and biology — noting a 206% increase in biology PVOS this year — and a reported 73.6% decrease in the failure rate since 2021.
Craig credited the Tiger Time initiative with increased student engagement and cited usage metrics from the IXL platform, saying students answered more than 506,000 questions districtwide and weekly averages increased substantially compared with last year.
Craig also previewed extracurricular highlights: winter sports are beginning, the district will host a hall of fame ribbon cutting on Dec. 6, the winter concert is scheduled for Dec. 17, and the school recently hosted a historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU) fair that produced several immediate acceptances. He encouraged families to visit Truman and review school updates on the school’s social channels and app.
The principal concluded by thanking staff, administrators and students. The board expressed appreciation and noted the report concluded the school presentations for the evening.
