Student representatives from Bend High, Caldera High, Mountain View High and Summit High spoke about standards‑based grading and the student alliance group shared experiences about Gay‑Straight Alliances and supports for queer and trans students. The superintendent and directors praised the Ruby Bridges walks held across several schools, noting strong community turnout.
The district also announced winners in its Excellence in Education awards, naming Chris Boyd, principal at Caldera High School, as administrator of the year; the board said it would announce support‑staff and educator of the year winners later in the week.
