Everett School Committee accepts two $300 gift‑card donations and approves $1.25 million in bills and payroll

At its Dec. 1 meeting the Everett School Committee accepted two small donations and approved bills and payroll totaling $1,252,275.94.

Donations: The committee accepted a $300 Market Basket gift‑card donation from Caverion inclusion teacher Anita Keelan (motion by Miss Babcock, seconded by Miss Barrows) and a $300 Market Basket gift‑card donation from the Zontage Club of Chelsea (motion by Miss Cornelio, seconded by Miss Babcock). Both motions passed on roll call, recorded 8-0 in favor. The superintendent said the gift cards will be provided to students whose families are in need and that customary thank-you letters will be sent.

Bills and payroll: Miss Cristiano moved to submit bills and payroll of $1,252,275.94 and later moved to pay that amount; both motions were seconded and passed on roll call with unanimous yes votes (8-0).

Procedural motions: The committee also waived reading of various minutes and approved subcommittee minutes by motion. At the end of the public meeting the committee voted to enter executive session to approve prior executive-session minutes pursuant to Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 30A §§21(a), 22(f) and (g); the roll call to enter executive session was recorded 8-0 and the body adjourned into executive session at 7:45 p.m.
