Concord Township Council voted to adopt its 2026 budget and approved a millage adjustment that officials said is needed to fund capital projects and sustain municipal services. The resolution sets the 2026 general purpose real estate millage at 0.499 mills, of which 0.163 mills will be transferred to a newly funded capital reserve. The total township levy items described in the ordinance come to 0.933 mills when capped items such as library services, hydrants and open space are included.
Township Manager Amanda summarized the impact for residents in a slide presentation and told the council, "the bill goes up a $124 a year or about $10 a month," based on the average assessment cited in the presentation. She added that the township has not increased its general purpose rate in over a decade and that the change will help replenish a capital reserve and address stormwater and pedestrian safety projects.
Council discussed the ordinance in public session and then called roll for the formal ordinance vote. All participating council members voted in favor during the roll call and the ordinance passed. The council also approved the companion five‑year capital plan and published the budget documents on the township website and in the township offices.
The action follows the public budget hearing held on Nov. 11, 2025; staff materials provided to council included itemized allocations showing funds apportioned for library services, fire protection, hydrants and open space. Council members said they considered funding needs and the long hiatus since the last general purpose increase when supporting the measure.
The ordinance becomes part of the township's fiscal planning for the year ending Dec. 31, 2026. Council called for the adopted budget documents to remain on file in the township offices and available on the township website.
