Lisle Police promote Officer Sean McKay to sergeant

The Lisle Village Board recognized the promotion of Officer Sean McKay to the rank of sergeant at its Dec. 1 meeting.
Chief Rodriguez praised McKay’s record and outlined the department’s recent restructuring that created a special-operations sergeant position to lead incident command and training. "Officer Sean McKay became sergeant Sean McKay, with the Lisle Police Department on 11/24/2025," Chief Rodriguez said. Rodriguez said McKay began his career with the department on Jan. 5, 2005, graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Basic Academy at the College of DuPage, and has served as a school resource officer, officer in charge, field training officer and bike patrol coordinator. Rodriguez also noted McKay has received awards including honors from the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists and several lifesaving and unit citations.
Chief Rodriguez said the department established the special-operations sergeant role (naming Sergeant Jim Dexter) to centralize responsibility for incident command and training documentation, a change he described as responsive to recent legislative changes in Illinois and to the department’s needs.
The board and those in attendance offered congratulations to Sergeant McKay. The recognition was ceremonial; no formal vote was required.
