Todd County’s Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 16 to adopt the county’s final 2026 levy and to approve the county budget for 2026.
The finance committee recommended a final levy of $26,735,567, reduced by program aids of $2,018,000.99 for a net levy figure of $19,717,468. The board also voted to adopt the 2026 county budget as presented to the board. Chair (unnamed in the transcript) called for motions, both of which were seconded and carried by voice vote.
The finance presenter (auditor/treasurer) told commissioners the levy and budget followed the previously approved preliminary levy and a truth‑in‑taxation hearing held on Dec. 2. Commissioner comments praised department heads and finance committee members for navigating a difficult year and for keeping the county’s tax increase comparatively low. One commissioner noted the county remains among the lowest 10 in the state for increase rates, an item several commissioners thanked staff for achieving.
The board’s action finalizes the county’s property tax request for 2026 and sets the appropriation framework for departments; the county will carry out implementation and follow‑up consistent with the adopted budget documents.
