Council adopts $30.7 million consolidating budget adjustments

Michelle Ferguson, finance department, told the Council the overall increase reflects previously approved expenditures of about $11.85 million and pending items totaling roughly $18.81 million. She listed grants already approved by the Council (including awards from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, King County and the Puget Sound Regional Council) and carryforward budgets for projects such as data system replacements and park work. Ferguson also cited timing-driven variances in several funds — including street fund transfers and earlier transfer-outs from human services and show operations — and said sales tax revenue is tracking about $1,000,000 over budget for the period presented.
The motion to adopt the ordinance was moved and seconded and adopted by voice vote. The ordinance and its exhibits contain line-item detail and exact figures; Ferguson said she used rounded numbers in the presentation but that the ordinance exhibits carry exact amounts.
