County accepts Homeland Security, SIA and Health Foundation grants totaling multiple awards

Tippecanoe County commissioners on Dec. 15 accepted multiple grants to support emergency preparedness, law enforcement and public-health services.
Sharon Grama presented a Homeland Security grant to fund delegates to the HAZMAT conference in Baltimore and a NASPO conference in Billings, Montana, in the amount of $939,374 with no county match required; the commission approved acceptance by voice vote.
The sheriff’s office received a $25,000 award from the SIA Foundation to provide AEDs for patrol vehicles, which the board also accepted. Finally, Gateway to Hope and the county health department were awarded $7,500 from the Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis to support the syringe service exchange program through June 2026; commissioners accepted that award as well.
