Parks staff told the Logansport City Parks Board on Dec. 10 that recent events and operational improvements produced strong community participation and improved revenue at the municipal golf course.
Jacqueline, speaking for the parks department, said the department recorded higher attendance at Christmas in the Park compared with last year: promotional videos produced with the career center reached thousands of views and the department’s camera count showed 256 people at one walk-through. Staff also tracked roughly 2,500 vehicle visits through the event period and reported 286 walk-throughs counted on a separate night. Jacqueline said staff collectively logged 648 hours setting up Christmas in the Park and about 75 hours on leaf blowing and mulching at Spencer Park.
Operational updates included near-complete trail-camera installation (staff reported the system was about 95% set up, pending network access), and a storage barn that has its sides and roof installed and awaits garage doors. The department also received a large seed shipment for prairie restoration at Houston Park and plans to spread seed before a heavy snow to help with packing.
Dean, reporting on golf operations, said the course recorded more than 25,000 rounds for the year, an increase of about 4.5% (roughly 1,000 additional rounds), and that overall income was up about 20% compared with last year. He said food-and-beverage revenue rose by about 28% and over 200 hours of simulator time were rented. Staff set a target to open the driving-range area by mid-April, weather permitting.
Jacqueline also said the department has interviewed and selected a sports manager, pending routine drug tests and background checks; the hire is expected to support youth-sports fundamentals and partnerships with local leagues in 2026.
The board thanked staff for the work and moved on to public comment.
