Council approves three contracts to rehabilitate city-owned homes using CDBG, PLHA and HOME funds

For 2065 Cody Court, staff recommended A & P Construction’s low responsive bid of $134,510 plus a requested 15% contingency to address potential unpermitted structures and water damage, bringing the estimated project total to $157,686.50 to be paid with PLHA and CDBG funds. For 1827 Shadow Park Drive the low bid was AMP Construction at $71,850 (estimated total $81,035 with a 10% contingency). For 573 Birchwood the low bidder was Zach’s Handyman & Construction at $53,195 (estimated total $60,514.50 with contingency). Staff said a future council item will recommend final disposition (sale to first-time buyers or transfer to nonprofits for affordable rentals).
Council voted to approve awarding all three contracts at once; the roll call recorded unanimous support (3-0). Staff emphasized funding sources (CDBG, PLHA, HOME) and said a separate item will come back with recommended disposition of the rehabilitated units.
