Oakwood City Council on Dec. 1 read and adopted a resolution expressing appreciation for Rob Stevens’ 16 years of service, recounting projects and initiatives completed during his tenure.
Mayor Duncan read the resolution that recited Stevens’ election in 2009, swearing in in 2010, and service on committees such as Safety and Traffic and Streets and Alleys. The resolution catalogued municipal projects and accomplishments associated with his time on the council, including development and park projects, code and infrastructure improvements, and programs such as the Oakwood Citizen Police Academy and the farmers market.
Mayor Duncan presented a signed copy of the resolution and an artist replica brick inscribed "Rob Stevens, city council member 2010 to 2025." Council members offered personal tributes. Council Member Jackson praised Stevens’ mentorship and steady support; Council Member Turban noted his integrity and dedication. "You've always wanted Oakwood to advance and improve," Jackson said.
Rob Stevens thanked colleagues and staff, including his wife and family, and reflected on learning from his time on council. He said he was stepping down for family commitments and praised city staff and the incoming city manager, Katie Smitty. The council adjourned the meeting and held a reception where members and residents greeted Stevens.
