Oakwood adopts NIST Cybersecurity Framework v2 under Ohio law

Council Member Jackson introduced and council approved a resolution on Dec. 1 adopting the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework version 2 as Oakwood’s official cybersecurity framework.
Jackson said the resolution responds to Ohio House Bill 96, which requires cities to adopt a cybersecurity program, and called NIST a "widely recognized, flexible, and risk-based approach for managing cybersecurity risks across critical operations, technology systems, and information assets." She said staff will use the framework through 2026 to strengthen protections for sensitive data and to improve resilience against cyber attacks.
Council asked no follow-up questions and voted unanimously to adopt the resolution. The measure authorizes city staff to proceed with implementation activities consistent with the NIST framework and state requirements.
