The Inglewood City Council on Dec. 9 approved three separate city sponsorships for 2026 events, committing a combined total of $320,000.
Councilmember Gloria Gray’s initiative to sponsor the annual Family Unity Day at Darby Park was approved "not to exceed $130,000," the clerk recorded, and members voted in favor. Councilmember Dionne Fogg’s initiative to sponsor the fifth annual Women’s Empowerment Summit was approved with a $40,000 city sponsorship; the summit is tentatively scheduled for May 1–2, 2026, with events at a downtown location and at the Inglewood Senior Center. Councilmember Dionne Falk moved approval for the Independence Day Music Festival scheduled for July 4, 2026 at Darby Park, authorizing up to $150,000 in city sponsorship.
The clerk called votes on each motion with members recorded as voting "Aye." No member raised recorded opposition during the item, and no amendments or conditions were added to the motions as read into the record.
What happens next: Staff will administratively implement the sponsorship payments and event coordination; council decisions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
