District approves university affiliation agreements, buys ADA compliance tool and receives AI committee update

The board also approved a one-year, districtwide site license with Grackle Docs—an accessibility workspace that helps produce ADA-compliant documents—for $2,500 beginning Dec. 5, 2025. Doctor Hughes (AI committee/administration) said the district shopped alternatives and concluded the Grackle site license offered districtwide coverage for staff and document types. A board member asked whether the license covered a ceiling number of users; administration said the site license covers current and projected staff and can be renewed annually if needed.
On the AI committee update, Doctor Hughes reported the first staff training on the types of AI has reached about 80% completion and the committee approved seven additional non-generative apps since October. The committee is developing a stoplight framework to categorize permissible generative AI tools and will provide monthly updates in the education agenda.
Board members discussed PSBA/Millersville AI certification for board members (an optional course costing about $400 per member) and whether district funds could support members taking the certification.
