Southern York County School District reorganizes board; Henkel named president, Wilson vice president, Decker treasurer

The Southern York County School District board certified new directors and completed its annual reorganization at a Dec. 4 meeting.

The York County Board of Elections certificate was read into the record, and Samantha Hall, Lisa Stoller, Jason Decker and Mary Lee Hall were confirmed as duly elected school directors for four-year terms. Newly elected directors were sworn in by the board.

Nominations for board officers followed. After nominations closed, Nathan Henkel was elected president by voice vote. Joseph Wilson was elected vice president by voice vote after being nominated from the floor. Jason Decker was nominated and elected treasurer; in remarks before the vote Decker described his executive experience overseeing ‘‘$560,000,000 annualized budgets,’’ which he said prepared him for the treasurer role. All three officer elections were carried by voice vote.

The board also approved recommended appointments to outside bodies and committees. The president announced primary and alternate representatives for the York County Tax Collection Bureau and other joint authorities, and named committee chairs including Mary Lee Hall (athletics/extracurriculars), Bill Hall (buildings and grounds), and Jennifer Henkel (education). The board added an Artificial Intelligence committee as a standing item in education and appointed members to administrative committees.

No contested votes or roll-call tallies were recorded in the minutes; most actions were approved by voice vote or unanimous consent. The board adopted the meeting and committee schedule for 2026, amending the proposed June meeting date from June 18 to June 11 by motion.

The board president announced the next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
