The Village of Homer Glen board on Dec. 10 approved two measures adjusting employee pay, voting to adopt villagewide compensation level changes and to award specific employee increases, both effective Jan. 1, 2026.
Trustee Reinders moved to adopt the adjusted compensation levels under the village’s standard operating procedure for annual review and compensation; the motion was seconded and carried after roll-call votes recorded as 'Aye' by the members present. A separate motion, moved by Trustee Mason, approved individual employee adjustments tied to annual performance reviews and changes in job duties; that motion also carried.
Board members discussed whether the clerk should read aloud the names and new salary amounts for employees receiving increases. One member noted the information is public record ('It's public knowledge to begin with'), while another said they preferred to speak privately with each affected employee before the changes take effect and noted some job descriptions may need adjustment. The board did not require reading each employee's new salary on the record and directed staff to finalize any job-description changes and follow up with individuals.
The approved adjustments are effective Jan. 1, 2026; the motions were recorded as carried on the Dec. 10 meeting record. No specific salary amounts or employee names were read into the record during the meeting.
