Oak Lawn honors fire-department promotions, Girl Scouts and an Eagle Scout

The Village of Oak Lawn began its Dec. 9 meeting with several personnel oaths and community recognitions. The board administered oaths of office and badge pinning for promoted members of the Oak Lawn Fire Department, including the appointment of a bureau chief of EMS and new fire engineers; family members appeared for photographs and brief remarks of thanks.
The village recognized Girl Scouts Carlota Alejandra Reynosa Suarez and Isabella Grace Silva for outstanding achievement and for earning the Girl Scout Bronze Award, and a representative from the Stuff Love food pantry described the girls' contributions in making hand-sewn hearts and helping with Thanksgiving meal distributions.
The board also presented an Eagle Scout recognition to Paul Kowalski for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and Kowalski briefly described the persistence required to complete the project amid COVID-related delays.
The presentations were largely ceremonial and the attendees received congratulations and photographs from trustees and staff.
