Planning and Zoning Commission backs UGL Truck Sales special use with conditions

The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of a special-use permit for UGL Truck Sales at Building X, 275 South Route 31, saying the operation may proceed if it meets specific conditions. Director Afton presented staff recommendations, noting the property sits in an M-2 planned unit development and that motor vehicle sales are a special use under the PUD.
"UGL Truck Sales has applied for a special use, to operate out of Building X..." Director Afton said, explaining staff’s recommended conditions: the sales trailer adjacent to the south side of Building X must be removed within 30 days; storage of trucks for sale must be limited to the area shown on the site plan; and the petitioner must obtain a state dealer license within 90 days of approval. Afton also recommended limiting hours to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Donald Dickinson, representing the petitioner, told the commission the petitioner agreed with staff recommendations. Director Afton noted the petitioner "are in the process of getting that removed but don't have confirmation yet on when the company will actually remove that sales trailer." The commission adopted the findings of fact and voted in favor of the motion. The commission chair said the item will appear on the village board agenda on Monday, Nov. 10, for final action.
The approval is a recommendation to the village board; the village board will decide whether to adopt the special use and attendant conditions. The staff report and adopted findings provide the basis for the commission’s recommendation and list the site plan areas where storage is permitted.
