The Saint Joseph School District board approved adoption of a K–12 safety application that administrators said aligns the district with Senate Bill 68’s updated emergency-operations planning requirements.

"This safety app is compliant with Senate Bill 68," the presenter said, summarizing an accompanying three-year budget comparison that showed short-term and multi-year savings when the new software and intercom integration are considered alongside discontinuing the Raptor emergency-management system.

Administration asked the board to sign on immediately for the remainder of the current year and provided an estimated three-year net savings of $3,780 when compared with continuing both systems. The board discussed the cost-benefit and state compliance implications; the motion to approve passed with one abstention recorded by Miss Williams and six affirmative votes from trustees.

The approval includes implementation via the district’s emergency-management and communications teams to integrate the app with existing intercom systems. Board members asked staff to return with final contract details and any training timeline, and the motion was recorded and entered into the minutes.
