City planning staff told the Chandler Planning and Zoning Commission on Dec. 17 that the commission will hold a special, informational meeting on the general-plan draft on Jan. 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Chandler Museum. Staff member Lauren said the meeting is required by state statute and that no action will be taken — the session is intended for review and comment on the final draft.
"At our next meeting, it will be a special meeting... at the January 7, 2026 meeting at 05:30, we will be meeting it will be an informational meeting about the general plan update, the draft. We have it in its final form, and, it will be informational. No action will be taken by the commission," Lauren said. She added that staff would finish a memo and hoped to send it by the end of the week or first thing Monday so commissioners would have time to review the final draft before the meeting.
Separately, a commissioner invited the public to "Airport Day" on Jan. 24 at the Chandler Airport as a community event intended to showcase the airport's benefits. Commissioners exchanged holiday greetings and said they would reconvene in the new year.
Next steps: staff will distribute the final-draft memo and materials ahead of the Jan. 7 informational meeting; no formal vote on the general plan is scheduled for that date according to the record.
