Planning commission approves consent agenda, limits outdoor-speaker hours at Seasons at McQueen

The Chandler Planning and Zoning Commission voted Dec. 17 to approve a five-item consent agenda that included amended stipulations for the Seasons at McQueen development, notably capping live-entertainment and outdoor-speaker operations at 5–10 p.m.

Staff member Darcy said the addendum memo before the commission contained three amended stipulations for the Seasons at McQueen item and that the change to outdoor-speaker hours was made "due to some of the concerns from [the] planning and zoning commission," adding, "so we did amend that to end at 10PM just like the live entertainment that's existing within the shopping center already as well." Darcy attributed the change to concerns about proximity to adjacent residential areas and the desire to align hours with existing live entertainment in the center.

A motion to approve the consent agenda, including the stipulation modifications, was made and seconded; the chair then called for a vote. Multiple commissioners responded "aye," and the chair declared the motion passed. A commissioner announced a recusal from item 5, citing that their children attend Saint Marybasha (as stated on the record), and that recusal applied to that specific consent item.

The chair reminded the public that state statute prohibits the commission from discussing items not on the agenda but that staff will follow up on questions raised by attendees.
