At the Dec. 8 meeting the Village Board approved the warrants report for Nov. 25 to Dec. 8 showing $498,054.05 in expenditures, and later conducted a public hearing and second-reading vote on the proposed 2025 property tax levy.
Finance director Bettina O’Connell presented the levy calculations and the board approved an aggregate levy estimate of $5,505,009, which includes a village share of $4,183,457 and a Lake Bluff Public Library share of $1,321,552. The levy estimate represents a 4.72% increase over the prior year. As a home-rule unit, the village is not bound by the Property Tax Limitation Act but has voluntarily followed its guidance for non-library portions; staff said the estimate remains within those limits.
Trustees approved the levy ordinance by roll call and earlier approved the warrants report by vote. The board also approved a second-reading ordinance abating the 2025 levy for outstanding 2019 refunding bonds because Water Works funds will cover debt service.
Next steps: Clerk to file required levy documents with the county clerk before the statutory deadline.
