Playscape plans go to town council; Ellis Park community center estimated at $40M

Park staff told the board that J2, the contractor that prepared the playscape plans, would present the designs to Danville Town Council that evening and that the council would consider whether to fund components of the plan or place them on a future funding list. "They're presenting tonight for town council at 7," staff said.
Board members also discussed the Ellis Park redesign. One attendee said a community center included in the plan had an early cost estimate of about $40,000,000, and board members cautioned that even if the council approves plans, bond financing or other long-range funding would be required: "the funding of it is gonna be... Be a bond finance," one member said.
Staff and board agreed some elements of the larger proposal could move forward sooner while major capital components would likely be phased and await later funding decisions. The parks board planned to review feedback from the town council and the contractor at a subsequent meeting.
