Danville plans Blanton House interior upgrades; Rotary gazebo to be moved, repainted and rented

Danville Town officials described a set of modest interior upgrades at the Blanton House intended to improve rental appeal and protect a revenue stream, and proposed relocating a Rotary-built gazebo to a pad near the playscape for rental use.
"Paige Meredith, she's our, Blanton House coordinator out there. She puts together a list of some items that she wants to go after," Speaker 2 said, summarizing the coordinator's priorities for new tables, upgraded lighting, and chandelier replacements to add character and utility to bridal and groom spaces.
Speaker 2 said bookings have increased since the pandemic: "for a while there, we were dipping low from COVID ... last year, we're around 75, we'll probably push an 85 this year so and then, profit about 50% usually." Speaker 2 argued those revenues justify smaller investments to keep the facility attractive.
On the gazebo, Speaker 2 said the Rotary will help relocate and refurbish a gazebo currently in the town parking lot; the proposal calls for re-roofing to match other structures, placing a Rotary logo on top and opening the structure for small rentals (Speaker 2 estimated seating for about 16). Speaker 2 said the effort is largely labor/time and should not require significant dollars.
No formal vote or specific contract awards were made during the meeting; staff said they will report back with cost estimates and design details when available.
