The Danville Town park board voted to name Field 2 "President's Field — Brent Taylor," adopting a two-line sign format the board said would remain while Taylor serves as league president.
The item was reintroduced by Speaker 2 and supported by Brent Pope, who spoke to Taylor's long service. "That's why I asked that we can do do something like that," Brent Pope said, calling the naming a modest show of appreciation for decades of volunteer work with local youth baseball.
Board members discussed wording and precedent. Speaker 2 proposed the sign read "President's Field" with "Brent Taylor" on a second line and noted that if the league presidency changes, the board would have the ability to revisit the name. Speaker 3 confirmed the field is currently used by the Kiwi/Peebles league and seconded the motion to approve the naming.
The motion passed with the board voting in favor and no opposition recorded in the meeting transcript. The board did not adopt a permanent naming that would prevent future changes tied to league leadership.
The board also noted the field may be replaced within a few years as part of other capital work, but members said a short-term naming recognizes Taylor's service to the community.
The matter was introduced during the agenda item on facility naming and concluded in the same session; no additional conditions or funding were attached to the action.
