Danville board updates public-art 'memorial tree' installation plan

Parks staff told the Danville Town Parks & Recreation Board that the memorial tree public-art piece is nearly ready for installation but will require specialized handling and additional volunteer work.

The artist is preparing leaves in the studio; Speaker 1 said the artist must heat-press each metal leaf and the town will prepare roughly 100 leaves locally to contribute to an expected total of about 300 leaves.
Speaker 1 said the base has been set near the pickleball courts and the final pad and sidewalk work remain; installation crews will place the bottom pad and then lift and assemble the four sections. The town plans a possible time-lapse of the installation and volunteer sessions to finish leaf preparation.
Board members praised progress and asked logistical questions about delivery and site preparation. No permit, grant source, or formal funding amount was specified during the update.
