At the Nov. 17 meeting the Clark County Board of Commissioners read a proclamation recognizing the county health department as the 2025 Dr. Sarah Taylor Morrow Health Department of the Year, an award from the North Carolina Public Health Association. The proclamation cited the department’s leadership, innovation and initiatives including a post-overdose response team launched in August 2023 to support overdose survivors.
"Through the dedication of the staff and strong community partnerships, the department has advanced programs that improve access to care and help enhance the quality of life for Clark County residents," the proclamation reads, as read by the chair. Several commissioners publicly congratulated the health department and Dr. Williams.
County manager Griffin announced the appointment of Ronnie Antry as interim tax administrator, saying Antry has 47 years of tax experience, served in Craven County for 47 years (34 years as tax administrator), and holds certifications as a real-estate broker, a North Carolina assessor, and a certified tax collector. Griffin said the board decided to appoint him interim tax administrator and welcomed him to the role.
The board also approved an appointment of Shelley Ashley (senior services representative) to the Carter County Area Transportation System Advisory Board. Commissioners offered Thanksgiving greetings and thanked county staff.
