Anne (Education Committee) explained that the honors geometry and precalculus revisions aim to better align the math sequence from middle to high school and to provide a pathway for students preparing for college‑level mathematics. The Raspberry Pi course is part of the district’s dual‑enrollment offerings and provides hands‑on introduction to computing hardware and software; administrators said there were no substantive content changes but that the curriculum was refreshed to match Harrisburg University’s sequence.
Superintendent Colleen Friend also reported that the district held its first high school student advisory meeting with 22 students in attendance. The group spent substantial time discussing the district’s new cell‑phone protocols, and students raised mental‑health supports as a priority for future meetings. Friend said administrators are considering more frequent meetings and possible non‑voting student representatives to the board.
Board members and administrators praised student participation and noted the Raspberry Pi dual‑enrollment course provides both software and hardware foundations that may support students’ transitions to postsecondary programs.
The board approved the recommended advisory committee rosters and the curriculum revisions by voice votes during the education committee section of the agenda.
