The Town of Danville Redevelopment Commission voted to approve a joint letter — prepared with the town council — asking Hendricks County Commissioners to consider rebuilding the county courthouse in Danville’s downtown district. The commission reviewed a brief letter included in their packet and voted to sign and forward it.
During discussion a commission member characterized the county’s choice as a "historic decision being, you know, made" and urged the commission to be prepared to lobby on behalf of the town to keep the courthouse downtown. The commission’s president asked if a formal vote was needed; a motion to approve the letter was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The letter will also appear on the town council’s upcoming agenda. Commissioners said they would monitor the county’s deliberations and stand ready to offer further support or advocacy if needed.
