The board approved several personnel and short‑term fiscal measures at its Aug. 26 meeting.
Superintendent Walker explained that the district’s chief business officer had resigned and that the county recommended an interim fiscal consultant, Craig McAlpin, to assist with year‑end closeout and operations. Trustees voted to ratify that engagement; the motion passed with one trustee recorded as abstaining.
Trustees also approved a contract for a new assistant superintendent of educational services. The contract on the floor listed a salary of $201,000 with a health-and-welfare cap (listed in the agenda materials) and customary leave and retirement provisions; the new assistant superintendent addressed the board and pledged transparency and collaboration.
The board approved the employment of classified-management positions and confirmed the hiring of a new director of IT (Mr. Sinatra), which trustees and the superintendent publicly recognized.
On fiscal items, trustees discussed and voted to table the warrant and purchase-order listings in item 11.13 until they obtain clarifications; staff warned that not approving payments would delay vendor disbursements. Several other consent‑agenda items and conference approvals were approved by roll call earlier in the meeting.
The board recorded multiple roll-call votes on these items and identified follow-up tasks for staff to provide additional financial details for the tabled items and to finalize interim fiscal consultant logistics.
