Trustees reject crossing‑guard outsourcing after questions over city contribution

CSCA/CSEA speakers urged scrutiny of contracts and suggested the district could use district employees instead of paying an outside vendor twice the cost. "Do you think those crossing guards make $34 an hour or anything close to that?" a labor representative asked during public comment.
On the roll call the motion to approve the contract failed with trustees voting no; the board did not adopt item 10.22 at this meeting.
